Racing: Watersports Marine specialise in racing powerhead
modifications, hull modifications, tune ups, gearbox and prop
setups. These purpose built engines are a cast aluminium V6 cylinder block. Manufactured in 2.ltr and 2.5 ltr configurations, these motors are capable of producing in excess of 360 hp and rev up to 10,000 rpm. These engines run on high octane aviation fuel which is delivered to the engine by a electronic fuel injection system.
Gearbox and Propeller: The gearbox is of cast aluminium construction, thus being very light weight and streamline yet strong and durable.
There are wide range of propellers available. The most common sizes for our courses are 10 1/2 x 17 and vary between 4 and 5 blades.

Mercury Racing Zero Effort Controls feature a canted handle design that really fits the hand. Throttles have ball and spring detents which provide tactile feel and resist "creep." Shift levers provide a comfortable "throw" into and out of gear, giving sport boaters complete control of their boat. The
Mercury Racing 1075 SCi has had international success in offshore racing competition - winning numerous U.I.M. Class 1 races and was the power behind Team CRC's Offshore Super Series Cat Extreme World Championship. Its 800 rpm idle speed has revolutionized sport boating. Shifting into and out of gear is smooth as silk, making docking much easier. Carbon
fibre valve covers, air inlet resonators and engine cover set the 1075 SCi apart from its baby brother, the 850 SCi. New engine aesthetics include clear polished pulleys and clear
anodised hose fittings. The 1075 SCi comes with universal engine mounts for enhanced engine installation fit and finish. A new bronze sea pump housing enhances protection for boats used in the corrosive salt water environment. Twin flame arrestors also act as air filters, keeping the engine's air induction system clean and efficient. Life begins in Mercury Racing's four-cycle Race Shop. Technicians spend over 100 hours building the 557 cu. in. engines from bare block to completion using specialized components throughout the engine. |
