An innovative water drain system featuring a built-in flush attachment allows easy access and a convenient means for draining water to prevent freeze damage to the engine. 3-year/300-hour maintenance interval for most scheduled maintenance on all gas models. Exclusive easy oil drain system simplifies routine maintenance, allowing engine oil to be drained through a hose that exits through the boat's standard drain plug hole. To accommodate the narrow confines of a pontoon boat's center-pod engine compartment, MerCruiser® developed a tilt helm hydraulic steering system with hydraulic cylinders on the transom. Optional kit available for the Audio Warning System that warns of low oil pressure, high engine temperature and low drive unit lubricant level, thereby effectively reducing the potential for engine or drive damage. Exclusive drive lube monitor is conveniently located on top of all gas sterndrive engines for easy access and allows the lubricant to be checked from inside the boat. A 65-amp/917-watt alternator system provides plenty of power to keep batteries charged and to run electronic accessories. The alternator is located high on the engine to eliminate water contamination. Maintenance-free PermaLube U-joint on the Alpha drive eliminates the need to lubricate the U-joints. Greasable drive coupler can be lubricated from inside the boat, simplifying routine maintenance. Power Trim XD cylinders cushion the drive unit on impact of an underwater object, and the exclusive hydraulic memory system returns it automatically to the preset trim position.
